Latin American alumni thankful for their time at ISU 25 years ago

A special alumni group returned to Iowa State last week after attending school here a quarter of a century ago. Six people originally from Latin America came back to ISU, where they were surprised by the campus growth (and all the coffee shops), hugged old friends and explained how the university changed them for the better.

LAS graduation ceremony is Friday at 7 p.m.

The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences will hold its Spring 2014 Convocation on Friday, May 9, at 7 p.m. in Stephens Auditorium. About 400 LAS students are expected to walk the stage. Don Sakaguchi, professor of Genetics, Development and Cell Biology, is the faulty speaker. Alex Tinguely, graduating senior in physics and mathematics, is the student speaker.

Deepak Premkumar pushed the boundaries of his Iowa State adventure

Sometimes even the best and brightest freshmen don’t know what they want to do for the rest of their lives. Seems Premkumar was interested in everything: Particle physics, law, materials engineering, political science, psychology, computer science, international development. He was “gung ho.” About all of it.

From the Dean: Protection and Management of Digital Information

Iowa State University is developing a suite of data classification and information security policies which are currently posted in draft form at the Policy Library website. It is the College’s priority to implement and monitor these policies and practices. Effective immediately, Beate Schmittmann, dean, will institute the steps outlined in this letter to prevent further incidents and to ensure that LAS is the campus leader in data management and information security.
