2024 United Way Campaign: Every gift matters

Author: Paula Van Brocklin

The LAS United Way campaign is underway, and the first gifts are already coming in. So far, LAS has reached 33% of our $35,000 goal, and the university has achieved 50% of its $400,000 goal! Thanks to everyone who has donated so far! Remember, every gift makes a difference. Consider these impactful examples:

  • $1 a day can provide a year’s supply of healthy after-school snacks for 10 children at Boys & Girls Club.
  • $1 a week covers a Special Olympics registration fee for one athlete through the Arc of Story County.
  • $1 a month funds mileage for delivering meals through Heartland Senior Services.

Donating is easy

You may make your pledge using Workday, a secure card transaction on the United Way page, or via Venmo. To donate using Venmo, open the Venmo app, search for @UnitedWayStoryCo, and type in the amount you wish to donate (Pay). The last four digits of the Venmo account are 2045. Important: Please type #LAS_ISUCampaign where it says, “What’s this for?”.

Iowa State’s United Way campaign officially raps up on Oct. 15, so if you feel moved to donate, please do so by then. However, contributions will be accepted after that date as well.

A small token of appreciation

Members of the LAS community who donate to United Way could win one of three $25 gift cards to either Target, HyVee, or Fareway! After donating, simply enter your name and email address into this Qualtrics survey. The three gift card winners will be notified via email following the campaign. Good luck!
