The Iowa State University Department of Music will present their annual “Fanfare Concert” on Sunday, September 7 at 3:00 p.m. in the Martha-Ellen Tye Recital Hall. This concert will feature members of the faculty and several students, including internationally-renowned opera star Simon Estes.

Guru Rao, professor in the Roy J. Carver Department of Biochemistry, Biophysics and Molecular Biology, and Jonathan Wendel, Distinguished Professor in the Department of Ecology, Evolution and Organismal Biology, were reappointed as department chairs at Iowa State University. John Schroeter, professor and interim chair in the Department of Economics, was reappointed as an interim chair at ISU.
University Professor Mack Shelley is the next chair of the Department of Political Science. He succeeds Professor James McCormick, who served as chair for 15 years and remains on the Iowa State faculty.
Professor William Simpkins is the next chair of the Department of Geological and Atmospheric Sciences. He also holds the Smith Family Foundation Departmental Chair in Geology. Simpkins succeeds Professor Neal Iverson, who remains on the Iowa State faculty.
Iowa State scientist Alan Wanamaker is currently on a boat near the top of Norway studying clams – really old clams, like 500-year-old living clams.
