Iowa State University Student Counseling Services is shining a light on suicide awareness by hosting the Out of the Darkness Suicide Awareness Walk on Saturday, April 30. In 2020, 552 Iowans died by suicide, nearly a quarter of all Iowa deaths that year.
Suicide can be prevented and Iowa State students, staff, faculty and community members are encouraged to participate in the 4K (2.5 mile) walk to increase support for this important community health issue.
The walk will begin on the South Campanile Lawn, central campus. Check in begins at 9:30 a.m. with the walk starting at 10:00 a.m.
