Department of Economics to host seminar on food insecurity in Iowa

The Department of Economics welcomes Dr. Craig Gundersen of Baylor University, as he gives his presentation entitled “Addressing Food Insecurity in Iowa,” on Monday, April 13th from 3:40-5 p.m. in 368A Heady Hall. The seminar is open to everyone.

Gundersen is the Snee Family Endowed Chair and a Professor in the Department of Economics at Baylor University. Prior to arriving at Baylor, he was at the University of Illinois, Iowa State University, and the Economic Research Service of the USDA. Gundersen is the creator of Feeding America’s Map the Meal Gap project, a Round Table Fellow of the Farm Foundation, and a Faculty Affiliate of the Wilson Sheehan Lab for Economic Opportunities (LEO) at the University of Notre Dame. For over 30 years, his research has concentrated on the causes and consequences of food insecurity and on the evaluation of food assistance programs, with an emphasis on SNAP. Gundersen is a Fellow of the Agricultural and Applied Economic Association (AAEA).
