Volunteers still needed for United Way Day of Caring

Author: Paula Van Brocklin

The 2024 United Way Day of Caring is just over a week away on Friday, Sept.13, and LAS is still seeking volunteers to support the Good Neighbor Emergency Assistance program.

LAS volunteers will spruce up the inside of the Good Neighbor Emergency Assistance home at 613 Clark Ave. in Ames. Tasks include cleaning, minimal repair work, some painting, and reorganization of common areas. The shift runs from 9 a.m. to noon.

Good Neighbor Emergency Assistance offers emergency food and gasoline vouchers, emergency rent, and emergency utility assistance for those in need in Story County.

If you feel called to volunteer for this year’s Day of Caring, please email Paula Van Brocklin (paulavb@iastate.edu) by the end of the day on Monday, Sept. 9. In your email, please indicate your preferred T-shirt size. Shirts will be delivered to you on campus prior to Sept. 13.
