Chunhui Chen, professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy, has been named faculty success advisor for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Dean Beate Schmittmann appointed Chen to a three-year term effective Sept. 1.
As faculty success advisor, Chen will represent LAS as part of ISU ADVANCE, a program designed to recruit, retain, and advance all faculty. He will regularly work with the dean; the associate dean for diversity, equity, and inclusion; other college leaders; faculty; and staff to recruit and retain faculty members who can teach all students well. Chen will also conduct training for LAS faculty search committees and promotion and tenure committees.
In addition, Chen will assist other colleges if their faculty success advisors are unable to train faculty search committees.
Chen is excited to continue LAS’ reputation for hiring and retaining outstanding faculty members.
“My central goal is to holistically nurture faculty success, which encompasses actively promoting faculty participation and advancement within our academic community,” Chen said. “I hope that my work will contribute to LAS’ continued success in attracting outstanding faculty members, and just as crucial, retaining their valuable contributions.”
Chen will continue to serve as a faculty member in the Department of Physics and Astronomy.
