LAS launches new college website

CATEGORIES: Announcements

The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (LAS) website recently transitioned to the new Iowa State University website theme and style on June 30, 2023. This change aligns the college website with President Wintersteen’s goal of transitioning Iowa State websites to prioritize student recruitment, digital accessibility, and presenting a consistent web presence as mentioned in a June 2022 memo.

The new LAS website highlights student support, career preparation, opportunities for experiences like the I+E Academy or undergraduate research, and the range of academic discovery in the college. Content supports the ISU Admissions campaign, presenting LAS as a top destination to not only get a degree, but lay the foundation for a future career and make a difference in the world.

While the primary navigation of the website has changed from audience-based (ie: current student, future student, etc.) to topic-based, the majority of information and resources from the previous website can still be found on the new site.

Faculty and staff resources like the LAS Faculty Governance Document, grant support information, and policies can still be found on MyLAS. We encourage you to bookmark MyLAS and the university site for employees for quick access to internal resources, but you can always find the link in the footer of the LAS website.

Other websites that have been developed with the new theme so far include The Department of Geological and Atmospheric Sciences, LAS Study Abroad, LAS Alumni, and the Plaza of Heroines. LAS Communications is continuing to work with departments and units within the college to transition to the new theme over the next several months. In the meantime, anyone can access the Web Style and Story Guide, which provides logistical guidance on the new format and focus, and best practices in areas like search engine optimization, accessibility, photography and editorial content.
