December 2 deadline approaching for early retirement program

Author: Amy Juhnke

Over the past several months, the university and the college have communicated details about a special retirement incentive program for eligible faculty tenured in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and eligible faculty tenured in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences who are in departments jointly administered by both colleges. The program is a benefit created when we launched the Reimagining LAS initiative earlier this year.

Approved by the Iowa Board of Regents in March, the program is now open for enrollment. The two-month enrollment period began October 3, 2022 and will remain open until 5 p.m. on December 2, 2022. All eligible faculty who are interested in participating must apply through Workday by one of the following deadlines:

  • If retiring on December 31, 2022, the deadline is 5 p.m. on November 1, 2022.
  • If retiring by June 30, 2023, the deadline is 5 p.m. on December 2, 2022.

You can find program details on a special web page hosted by University Human Resources, including:

  • Eligibility
  • Due dates
  • How to apply
  • Different options
  • FAQs and other resources

If you are eligible, you should have received an email from University Human Resources on October 3, 2022, with the subject line: LAS Special Retirement Incentive Program.

Human resource coordinators are also available to answer questions and discuss your options. You can find your coordinator by clicking on your department/unit on this page. You can also send an email to: benefits@iastate.edu or hr_delivery@iastate.edu.
