LAS students shine in the College-By-College Pitch Off Finale

LAS students were well-represented in the College-by-College Pitch Off Finale which was held via Zoom on February 25.
Maxwell Smith (’21 computer science) won first place and $5,000 in the Existing Idea category. Smith is the founder of SeasonCast, an app for watching live and past events of your favorite local sport teams.
Mason Weh (’21 liberal studies) placed third in the New Idea category and took home $1,000. Weh is the founder of Mentoring for Change, an organization he plans to launch in Story County. The organization will provide mentorship to youth and enable them to explore their talents, interests and identity.
Seth Heerschap (’22 physics, Ph.D.) won $500 and was designated a Game Changer for his new diagnostic device that allows for the early detection of diseases. Heerschap’s device is more affordable than standard devices and is smaller than a fingernail. His invention revolutionizes the realm of cell cytometry.
