Opera vocalist Simon Estes, the music and theatre department’s F. Wendell Miller Distinguished Artist-in-Residence since 2000, has been inducted into the Opera Hall of Fame.
Estes is one of 10 people who has been invited to join the inaugural Opera Hall of Fame group.
The Opera Hall of Fame recognizes the achievements of outstanding living American artists, administrators, and advocates who have strengthened the art form and the field. It was established in 2020 on the occasion of OPERA America’s 50th anniversary, a celebration of the progress of the industry over the past half-century.
Estes received an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree from Iowa State in 1997.
