Iowa State University’s 2019 campaign to support United Way of Story County officially kicks off Friday, September 13. United Way of Story County has served our community for more than 60 years and supports local initiatives in the areas of health, education and financial stability. That includes everything from funding meals for seniors at Heartland Senior Services to supporting casework at the Legal Aid Society of Story County to funding tuition assistance for low-income families at Ames Community Preschool Center, just to name a few examples!
You’ll begin receiving information about the LAS United Way campaign beginning September 13, including your pledge card in campus mail.
One fun feature of our LAS campaign is our annual online auction, which is open for bid to anyone with an ISU Net-ID. Your donations are needed to make this a success!
What can I donate to the auction?
Get creative! Popular past items included themed baskets (baking basket, coffee basket, chocolate basket, etc), homemade baked goods, artwork, and tickets to local performances or athletic events. Donations of time and effort or group events are also great! Maybe your department has expertise that would be a hit at a child’s birthday party or could provide a personal tour of a location or campus collection that would serve as a one-of-a-kind gift.
Auction donations are due by Wednesday, Oct. 2. The auction will be open for bidding on Monday, Oct. 7 – Friday, Oct. 11. Stay tuned for future reminders!
Please contact Carly Johansen at johansen@iastate.edu with questions or information about your items.
Thank you for your support of United Way of Story County!
