OVPR invites you to explore a Precision Livestock Farming Initiative

CATEGORIES: Announcements

Does your lab group have novel data analysis methods and/or technology that could potentially be applied to precision livestock farming? Are you interested in collaborative research on the next generation animal agriculture with particular emphasis on integrating data science? Would your research benefit from incorporating the latest technologies in precision livestock farming? Do you want to improve animal welfare, productivity and societal acceptance of smart technologies?

The Office of the Vice President of Research (OVPR) is bringing together interested parties from across the university to explore forming a Precision Livestock Farming (PLF) Initiative, a transdisciplinary effort involving not only researchers, but also industry and farmer partners. The goal is to stand up high-functioning teams that can address all aspects of PLF and successfully apply for relevant funding opportunities in this area. This emerging topic intersects economic, ethical, societal and environmental aspects of applying data science to animal agriculture and genomics, production animal health and welfare, food science, monitoring technology, bioinformatics and workforce development.

If you are interested in exploring this topic or signing up for the PLF listerv, please register here to be notified of an upcoming lunch and to learn about networking opportunities.
