Feb. 15: Submit proposals for the 2019 ReACT Exhibition Series

Author: Contributor

The University Museums, in partnership with the Office of the Vice President for Research and the Senior Vice President for Finance and University Services, invites proposals for the 2019 ReACT Exhibition Series to be resumed at the Christian Petersen Art Museum for Fall 2019-2020. Focused on offering engagement opportunities that foster social relevance and address provocative and challenging issues that arise on campus, ReACT exhibitions are intended to be a safe and respectful environment in which to express and explore reactions, opinions, and perspectives of national current event issues relevant to the ISU community. Your research interest could provide an insightful contribution to this exhibition series! Any member of ISU faculty and staff may submit a proposal for the ReACT Exhibition Series.

ReACT exhibitions are curated from the University Museums permanent collections and loaned objects as appropriate and readily available. Curatorial content is provided by ISU faculty and/or staff from an array of disciplines who have research interests relevant to the exhibited. As befits an art museum, issues are presented primarily in the form of an exhibition of fine visual arts, generally of 10-15 objects. Educational programming in the form of lectures, open forums, and other activities may supplement exhibitions to further dialogue surrounding the issues addressed.

The deadline for submitting a proposal application is February 15, 2019. More information on ReACT, the proposal process, and selection criteria is available online. Dana Schumacher, University Museums project coordinator, is available at dschumac@iastate.edu to answer questions regarding exhibition collaboration, theme suggestions, how to recommend an interested colleague, or other details.
