On Tuesday, August 16, 2016, Dr. Chet Britt, professor and chair of the Department of Sociology, was stung by a wasp while jogging. He experienced a severe reaction to the sting and remains in critical condition in intensive care at the Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. In the interim, Dr. Paul Lasley is serving as acting chair of the department.
