Jenks reappointed as chemistry chair

College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Dean Beate Schmittmann reappointed William Jenks as chair of the Department of Chemistry for another term.

A faculty member in LAS since 1992, Jenks was named professor of chemistry in 2004. He has served as chair since 2011.

Jenks’ research interests are organic photochemistry, organosulfur chemistry, and reactive intermediates. He maintains an extensive list of published work, serves on multiple community and on-campus committees and boards, and has been awarded numerous teaching awards. He attended Columbia University as an NSF Predoctoral Fellow and subsequently as a Division of Organic Chemistry (ACS) Fellow, receiving his Ph.D. in 1991.
