ISU Bands to Host Regional Conference — Wind Ensemble to Perform

The Department of Music & Theatre will be hosting the regional conference for the College Band Directors National Association and the National Band Association, February 25-27 at Iowa State University. There will be nearly 100 university and collegiate band directors at this event, which will include presentations, exhibits, and performances by twelve different bands from throughout the midwest.

The ISU Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Michael Golemo, will perform on February 26 at 8:30 pm in the Martha-Ellen Tye Recital Hall as part of this conference. Their program will feature clarinet soloist Gregory Oakes and guest conductors Steven Smyth and Christian Carichner. They will premiere two compositions at this concert, and three of their composers will be in attendance.

According to Director of Bands, Michael Golemo, “This performance is extremely significant in the history of the ISU band program. We are honored to host this conference and equally proud to perform for this prestigious event.”
