ISU Theatre’s newest production, Les Liaisons Dangereuses (Dangerous Liaisons) opens in Fisher Theater on Friday, February 26 at 7:30 p.m.

Written in 1985 by playwright Christopher Hampton, the script is adapted from Choderlos de Laclos’ 1782 novel, a book so infamous that is was read behind locked doors at the time of its publication and banned in France a full forty-two years later.

Les Liaisons tells the story of Marquise de Merteuil and the Vicomte de Valmont who are rich, intelligent, witty, and bored. They make a pact to turn seduction into a game, a game they play with such style that it is almost impossible not to be fascinated by them. Then the game turns frighteningly unpredictable. The New York Times called the original production “A compelling evening of malicious wit.”

Additional performances will be held on February 27, March 4 and 5 at 7:30 p.m. and February 28 and March 6 at 2 p.m.

Admission is $18 for adults, $16 for senior citizens and $11 for students. Tickets can be purchased at the Iowa State Center Ticket Office, all Ticketmaster locations, or by calling 1-800-745-3000.
