Help LAS reach its United Way Campaign goal!

CATEGORIES: Uncategorized

As the 2015 United Way Campaign at Iowa State University is approaching its final stages, I would like to thank all of you who have already given generously to the campaign. Last year, the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences reached its campaign goal. This year’s goal is $36,000 and of course, we want to reach it again.

If you have not yet donated, I encourage you to use this easy online form to support the United Way of Story County. (Please be sure to state "College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Iowa State University" in the "Employer" field. LAS is Unit #16.)

United Way of Story County’s mission is to improve lives. Every dollar donated to United Way makes an impact in the lives of our neighbors, students and colleagues. Right here on campus, thousands of students are impacted by United Way services.

United Way supports many initiatives, but perhaps one of the most poignant is the organization’s commitment to education. Last year, United Way of Story County funded Iowa Reading Corps, a pilot project at three Story County schools that helped increase the number of students who are reading at grade level. This year, campaign support has enabled the program to expand to four additional Story County schools for the 2015-2016 school year.

United Way of Story County’s Women with Initiative program is another important effort in its portfolio, which utilizes leadership-level donations from women to help other women achieve self-sufficiency and confidence through financial education.

The United Way of Story County supports other important initiatives in two other key areas as well – income and health – and I encourage you to read more about those at http://uwstory.org.

Thank you for being a part of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences’ campaign to support United Way of Story County. If you have questions regarding the Iowa State University campaign, contact Jess Guess (jguess@iastate.edu).
