IEOP installs new painting in Landscape Architecture building

On Tuesday, Nov. 10, University Museums installed a large piece of historical international art to the hallway in the Landscape Architecture building, where the the Intensive English and Orientation Program (IEOP) is located.

The painting was previously located in the Presidential conference room in Beardshear during President Geoffrey’s administration. The painting was a gift of Charoen Pokphand Indonesia Group (Sumet Jiaravanon), which is the largest poultry feed producer in Indonesia.

About the artist Srihadi Soedarsono was born in 1931 in Solo, Indonesia and was one of the core artists of the Bandung School in the 1950’s. During the Revolution, he fought in the students’ army and was a member of the SIM (Young Indonesian Painters) group. In 1959, he graduated from the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) and later obtained his master’s degree at Ohio State University in 1962. In 1980, he returned to Ohio State University under a Fulbright-Hays Fellowship for a research program. Soedarsono has taught at and chaired for art departments in ITB and Jakarta Arts Institute.
