Monday: Learn how to participate in the Iowa Caucuses

It’s election season! Be prepared and get involved with great caucus-related events and activities!

The Iowa Caucus Education Workshop will be held in conjunction with caucus-related activities in the South Ballroom of Memorial Union on Nov. 9. The State Historical Society of Iowa's "First in the Nation" traveling exhibit on the Iowa Caucuses will be displayed along with an excerpt from a documentary on the Iowa Caucuses produced by IPTV from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The League of Women Voters of Ames and Story County will offer voter registration from 2 to 6 p.m. and campus political organizations, including those formed to support Democratic and Republican candidates for president, will host information tables. 

Organizations that have reserved tables at the resource fair include: Andrew Goodman Foundation Ambassadors, Iowa Public Television, Iowa State Daily, ISU College Democrats, ISU College Republicans, League of Women Voters of Ames and Story County, No Labels, Student Government, and students supporting the following presidential candidates: Hillary Clinton, Martin O’Malley, Bernie Sanders, Jeb Bush, Ben Carson, John Kasich, Rand Paul and Marco Rubio.

Iowa Caucus Education Workshop: "How to participate in the Iowa Caucuses" Monday, Nov. 9 4 p.m. Sun Room, Memorial Union Guest speakers will provide an overview of the Iowa Caucus process and lead a community-wide training session. The 75-minute workshop includes an overview of the Iowa Republican and Democratic Parties’ caucuses and will include a mock caucus. Guest speakers include Kim Reem, president of the Iowa Federation of Republican Women (IFRW); Andy McGuire, chair of the Iowa Democratic Party; Gwen Ecklund, past president of the IFRW; and Josie-Rae Bradley, the Caucus to Convention director for the Iowa Democratic Party. Dave Price, WHO-TV’s political director, will provide opening remarks on the importance of the Iowa Caucuses.

Voter Registration and Resource Fair Monday, Nov. 9 2-6 p.m. South Ballroom, Memorial Union The League of Women Voters of Ames and Story County will offer voter registration and campus political organizations, including those formed to support Democratic and Republican candidates for president, will host information tables.
