Oct. 4: ISU Wind Ensemble

CATEGORIES: Uncategorized

The Iowa State University Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Michael Golemo, will present a concert on Sunday, October 4 at 3:00 pm in the Martha-Ellen Tye Recital Hall.

Selections to be performed include: “Star Wars Trilogy” by John Williams, “Winter Dreams” by Michael Daugherty, “Celebration Overture” by Paul Creston, and “The Pathfinder of Panama March” by John Philip Sousa. Student conductor Grant Hyland will conduct “With Quiet Courage” by Larry Daehn.

According to Michael Golemo, Director of Bands, “Although the Wind Ensemble traditionally does not perform lighter music, don’t let the Star Wars selection deceive you. It is a five-movement, 20-minute long selection that is challenging, powerful, and really beautiful. If you like the compositional style of John Williams and his music from Star Wars, this is a ‘not-to-miss’ concert.”

Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students, and are available from the Department of Music Office or at the door.
