College of Liberal Arts and Sciences seeks Equity Advisor

The LAS Equity Advisor (EA) will be the College’s equity representative to the ISU ADVANCE Program. The EA will chair the college’s Diversity Committee which works to ensure a supportive environment where everyone feels welcomed, respected and safe. The EA will provide guidance and training to support the goal of recruiting and retaining a diverse faculty. The EA will provide information and be available for consultation on issues including recruiting, hiring, mentoring, professional development, promotion, leadership opportunities, and departmental climate as they relate to support for women and minority faculty. The EA will be the college’s representative to the university’s “peer mentoring” program. The EA will provide workshops in collaboration with other EAs. The EA will make presentations to the LAS Cabinet as needed and meet at least once each semester with the Dean. The Equity Advisor also serves as a resource to all departments in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences on matters of diversity, inclusion, and equity.

The ideal candidate will be a tenured professor in a STEM discipline with a passion for increasing the representation of women and underrepresented minorities in all fields represented in the college, and specifically the STEM areas. The appointment is compensated and should ideally be for three years.
