Interrogation techniques for "high-value" suspects is a hot topic, and Iowa State psychologist Chris Meissner is at the forefront of developing improved and ethically based practices to gather intelligence. Meissner’s comments were included in two recent national news articles in Bloomberg Businessweek and Newsweek.

Four years ago Meissner was awarded the High-Value Detainee Interrogation Group (HIG) main research contract. HIG is a federal interagency group made up of staff from the FBI, CIA, and the DIA (Defense Intelligence Agency). In this capacity, Dr. Meissner has led a team of international investigators that has developed novel, scientifically vetted and rapport-based methods to interview and interrogate suspects.
