Elizalde named LAS’ MLO outstanding student for fall 2014

Iowa State University student Guillermo  of Storm Lake was honored Dec. 14 as the Multicultural Liaison Officer Outstanding Student honoree from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences for fall 2014. He will graduate from ISU Dec. 20 with degrees in interdisciplinary studies (criminal justice) and sociology.

Elizalde has been active on the ISU campus. Most recently he has served as a peer mentor to a transfer multicultural student for the Bridging Opportunities in Leadership and Diversity Program in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. He also has helped establish the ISU colony of Lambda Theta Phi Latin Fraternity, was a Multicultural Vision Program peer leader, was an NCORE/ISCORE Scholar, and works as a youth addiction specialist at Youth & Shelter Services in Ames.

The College of LAS’ multicultural liaison officer is Der Vang. She supports initiatives for the recruitment of a diverse college community.
