ISU doubles capacity for online testing during finals

Author:

Iowa State is committed to increasing capacity in its online testing centers. In response to student concerns, including the recent Government of the Student Body forum with university leaders, we are taking the following steps immediately to add online testing center capacity and significantly reduce wait times.

Fall 2014 Finals Week testing capacity has doubled, from 219 to 448 seats

Testing Center sites:
• 60 Carver (48 seats)
• 250 Carver (51 seats)
• 139 Durham (75 seats)*
• 2272 Gilman (62 seats)
• 2552 Gilman (58 seats)
• 3354 Gilman (40 seats)*
• 68 Heady (66 seats)*
• 0214 Sukup (48 seats)*

Hours are also expanded:
Finals Week:
• Monday through Thursday: 7:30 a.m. – 10 p.m.
• Friday: 7:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Dead Week:
• Friday: 8 a.m. – 10 p.m.
• Saturday: Noon – 6 p.m.
• Sunday: Noon – 10 p.m.

*New for Fall 2014

Exam scheduling:
• Students may also take online exams the weekend before Finals Week. This will alleviate cases where students already have plane tickets for holiday travel, or if they would like to spread their exams out over a longer period of time.
• Beginning Spring 2015, schedulers will match final exam times with the published exam time for the course. This will result in exams being scheduled for normal, two-hour windows of time, and eliminate lines during peak times (typically Wednesday and Thursday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.)
