Meet the LAS Bloggers!

The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is excited to introduce their newest recruits: student bloggers!  These eight student bloggers will work to keep you up to date on all things happening in the LAS College and on Iowa State’s campus.  But before they get started, here is a little information about each of them and what they do here at Iowa State…
Michael Cox
Majors: Mathematics and Secondary Education
Minor: Chinese
Class year: Sophomore
Campus Involvement: National Residence Hall Honorary, Cyclone Aide, Recreation Services employee, LAS Ambassador
Favorite thing about ISU: The trees around Iowa State when they change color for the fall.
Future Goal: In 10 years I want to be teaching a high school math class in Iowa.

Carly Crist
Major: Psychology, Pre-Law
Class year: Junior
Campus Involvement: Pre-Law Club Vice President, Alpha Delta Pi Sorority, LAS Ambassador, University Honors Program, Dub H dance club, Psychology research experimenter
Favorite thing about ISU: The people and the atmosphere on campus.
Future Goal: In 10 years I want to have a law degree and a Ph.D. in Psychology, working to keep innocent people out of jail.

Sarah Curran

Majors: Public Relations and Environmental Studies
Minor: Philosophy
Class year: Junior
Campus Involvement: Pre-Law Club President, LAS Ambassador Coordinator, Executive Vice President of Alpha Delta Pi, Writing and Media Center employee
Favorite thing about ISU: Homecoming and the fall – when campus is at its most beautiful and the whole university really comes together.
Future Goal: In 10 years I hope to be living in the Midwest, with at least a dog, working corporate PR and living life!

Kenzie Markland
Major: Psychology and Child, Adult, & Family Services
Class year: Junior
Campus Involvement: Alpha Delta Pi Sorority, LAS Ambassador, Dance Marathon, Media Research Lab
Favorite thing about ISU: The things that I have the opportunity to do (i.e. dance marathon changed my life).
Future Goal: In 10 years I will hopefully be working as an industrial organization psychologist.

Jane Morrison
Majors: Journalism & Mass Communication and International Studies
Minor: Statistics
Class year: Senior
Campus Involvement: LAS Ambassador Media Coordinator, Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority, Orchesis II dance club Publicity Chair
Favorite thing about ISU: How helpful everyone is and how easy it is to be who you want to be.
Future Goal: In 10 years I hope to be working with governmental public relations in Washington D.C.

Jazmin Murguia
Major: Journalism and Mass Communication
Minor: Spanish
Class year: Junior

Favorite thing about ISU: The vast amount of opportunities for students in leadership and academics.
Future Goal: In 10 years I would like to be helping first generation and multicultural high school students pursue higher education.

Sylvina Walk
Major: English
Minor: History

Campus Involvement: Student Support Services Program (TriO Program), Bold mentor
Favorite thing about ISU: I love the environment and meeting new people.  Getting coffee on campus with friends.
Future Goal: In 10 years I want to be writing screenplays in Canada.

Lauren “Apple” Walker
Major: Meteorology
Minor: Spanish
Class year: Junior
Campus Involvement: Peer mentor for Earth, Wind, & Fire Learning Community, Outreach chair for ISU chapter of the American Meteorological Society and Science Fair Committee, Swim Club, Scuba Club Fundraiser Committee, LAS Ambassador, Alpha Delta Pi Sorority
Favorite thing about ISU: The beautiful campus, especially in the fall.
Future Goal: In 10 years I want to be doing research at a university either for wind energy or the interaction between the ocean and atmosphere.
