Guru Rao, professor in the Roy J. Carver Department of Biochemistry, Biophysics and Molecular Biology, and Jonathan Wendel, Distinguished Professor in the Department of Ecology, Evolution and Organismal Biology, were reappointed as department chairs at Iowa State University. John Schroeter, professor and interim chair in the Department of Economics, was reappointed as an interim chair at ISU.
The Roy J. Carver Department of Biochemistry, Biophysics and Molecular Biology, the Department of Ecology, Evolution and Organismal Biology and the Department of Economics are coadministered by the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
Jonathan WendelRao has served as chair since 2009. He has received numerous patents for his work in protein engineering and protein-protein interactions in plants. Rao came to Iowa State in 2006 and holds the title of Roy J. Carver Charitable Trust Professor in BBMB.
Wendel has served as chair since 2003. His cotton genome research has led to 25-plus years of National Science Foundation funding and more than 200 refereed publications. Wendel came to Iowa State in 1986 and was named a Distinguished Professor in 2012.
Schroeter has served as interim chair since 2011. His research focuses on industrial organization and applied econometrics. Schroeter came to Iowa State in 1983.
