Dozen LAS faculty, staff earn 2014 Iowa State University awards

Twelve College of Liberal Arts and Sciences faculty and staff have received University Awards for excellence in research, leadership, teaching and advising. The Office of the Senior Vice President and Provost announced the honors this week. Recipients of the awards will be honored at Iowa State University’s fall convocation.

2014 University Award recipients from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences:

ISU Award for Early Achievement in Teaching (tenured/tenure eligible)
Jacob Harrison, assistant professor of music

ISU Award for Early Achievement in Teaching (non-tenure eligible)
Valerie Hennings, adjunct assistant professor of political science; Carrie Chapman Catt Center for Women and Politics

Louis Thompson Distinguished Undergraduate Teaching Award
Thomas Holme, professor of chemistry

Departmental Leadership Award
James McCormick, professor and chair of political science

ISU Award for Early Achievement in Research
Kirsten Hofmockel, assistant professor of ecology, evolution and organismal biology

ISU Award for Academic Advising Impact
Jane Dawson, senior lecturer of geological and atmospheric sciences

ISU Award for International Service
Julia Dominguez, associate professor of world languages and cultures
