Greenlee’s new ‘Facts vs. Truthiness’ Learning Community to jumpstart incoming freshman

CATEGORIES: Uncategorized

A new learning community called "Facts vs. Truthiness" is available for incoming freshman in any Greenlee School major to enroll in starting fall 2013. The year-long LC will be led by Greenlee’s two Pulitzer Prize-winning faculty members, Dennis Chamberlin and Jane Fritsch. The LC is designed to make students effective consumers of news. Students will develop a daily news habit through subscriptions to the digital edition of the New York Times and will be provided regular contact with faculty members through monthly seminars and field trips to local media outlets, such as the Des Moines Register and KCCI. The LC will guarantee members a seat in courses that can otherwise be difficult for freshman to enroll in, as it will offer reserved sections of Journalism 110 and 201, as well as English 250.
